Looking for a summer job? Become a Coney Island carny

If you’ve ever harbored the desire to man a midway booth, you’re in luck: Coney Island’s getting ramped up for the summer amusement park season (strip malls and skydiving and climbing walls, oh my!) and they’re hiring a few hundred people to help them out. DIY sideshow, anyone?

This Saturday, the Alliance for Coney Island will start recruiting summer employees, beginning with 250 open positions at Luna Park, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park and Nathan’s Famous hot dogs. They’re specifically looking for ride and game operators, servers and salespeople, so you might find yourself stuck cleaning up a few Kobayashi impersonators’ post-coaster puke. But on the bright side, a gig at Coney Island means you get to spend your summer at the beach, which is a rarity around these parts, not to mention all those Applebees points you could rack up on your lunch break.

To snag a job, register online and attend a recruitment session this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm at Lincoln High School (2800 Ocean Parkway). And if you can’t make it this weekend, stay posted: the Alliance says they’ll be releasing hundreds more jobs in the months to come.
