I’ve got pocket warmers in my pants and most of Brooklyn is currently covered in ice but spring is right around the corner and with it returns outdoor flea markets. LIC Flea & Food will open its fifth season on the weekend of April 8 – 9 (that’s only three weeks away, people) out across the Pulaski and beyond Newtown Creek on the Long Island City waterfront.
It’ll be open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm through late October, and will feature lots of cuisines from around the world (fingers crossed they bring back the mac-n-cheese waffle sliders). There’ll be art vendors and vintage vendors and the usual array of handcrafted, well-curated jewelry, clothing, tchotchkes and the like.
The LIC Flea Beer & Wine Garden is also returning this year, offering up craft beers from local Queens breweries and featuring special events throughout the season, including the annual Queens Beer Festival, the Taco Takedown Fest and the Wine & Sweets Festival.
If you’re interested in applying to be a vendor, or signing up for email updates and offers, check out the application page on LIC’s website. The Flea is located at 5-25 46th Ave at the corner of 46th Ave. and Fifth St.
