It’s a tough professional cycle out there — in order to get experience you need a job, and vice versa. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our first-ever Indie Media Scholarship, which will send two upstarts to Brooklyn Based’s coveted Indie Media Camp on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Indie Media Camp is happening at the Made in NY Media Center by IFP—one of our fave co-working spaces—in Dumbo. Panelists include head honchos from Gothamist, Medium, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and more.
Before we go on, it’s worth mentioning that even without the scholarship, Indie Media Camp is worth it. The $150 price tag gets you three crash courses — in social media, photography and podcasting respectively — and all the food, drink and hobnobbing you could possibly want. Pore over the day’s schedule to see all the course (and social) offerings.
What do we ask in return? A story for our site, deploying all of the great new skills you pick up at camp. To apply, please send us:
• a few lines about why you deserve to go
• your CV (LinkedIn link is fine)
• a pitch for a story you’d like to contribute to Brokelyn (essay, service, photo essay, news… whatever leverages your strengths)
Email brokelyn [at] gmail.com with your stuff by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 1. We’ll inform the winners right quick on Monday, so you’ve still got time to gear up for camp. Good luck, and thanks, as always, for being the kind of folks we like to have around.
