Iceberg takes up residence in gaping hole above Bergen Street mosaic

The tundra has arrived in Brooklyn. A rather enormous hole, which has existed just above the Bergen Street mosaic on the northernmost corner of the Queens-bound tracks for some time, is now filled with ice. The Brooklyn Paper first reported the tundra’s arrival in the gaping void under Boerum Hill, interviewing an area man passionate about the hole’s former stench.

Indeed, Park Sloper Marcas Baram has been bemoaning the stench emanating from the hole since early December, the Brooklyn Paper reported.

A sniff just two inches from the hole this morning revealed no odor, likely due to the tundra’s appearance in the void. Possibly, the smell may be coming from the abandoned express station below Bergen Street, which is quite dank. Also a possibility is that the hole leads into a “Stranger Things”-like alternate universe where everyone is a slightly different version of Cuomo.

The Bergen Street station has taken quite the beating this Bomb Cyclone cycle – a good deal of snow was also let in through overhead grates last Thursday, carpeting the platform in a fair amount of flurry.
