Housing Works Thrift Shop’s semiannual Best of Fall sale starts this Saturday, and it features discounts from 70 to 90 percent off so you can look all fancy for the turning leaves. Entry to their twelve participating thrift shops, including their Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights locations, is free and they’ve re-stocked their stores with clothes from designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Chloé and Campomaggi, along with new art and furniture. You can see more of the deals on their Pinterest board.
The sales will start on Saturday, August 30, kicking off from 12pm to 8pm at the SoHo location (130 Crosby Street), and then continuing through September at the other 11 locations in the city. If you want to travel as little as possible, the sale at the Brooklyn Heights store (122 Montague Street) is on September 2 from 5pm to 8pm, and the Park Slope store (266 5th Avenue) will open their doors from 12pm to 8pm on Saturday, September 13.
If you’re a Housing Works member you can get in early, which is important if you wan to snap up something you’ve got your eye on. If you’re a member at Advocate level, you can get in 30 minutes early, and if you’re on Supporter level and above you can get in an hour early. You’ve still got time to join, if that’s what you want to do. Starting September 17, you’ll also be able to shop online so you don’t even need to put on pants to get these $85 Prada heels, which is how shopping for big designers should always be. It also doesn’t hurt that shopping at Housing Works means you’re supporting an organization that works to combat homelessness and AIDS.
