House fire reveals giant growing operation on Vanderbilt Avenue

Oh man, someone is in SO much trouble. Photos by Kenny Ross

Possibly in an attempt to corner the market on locally-sourced weed that didn’t have to be flown here from Canada, Tennessee or California, some enterprising folks had a huge pot farm in a house on Vanderbilt Avenue and Dean Street. The thing they hadn’t thought of apparently, was that grow lights can cause a fire, which unfortunately for them is exactly what happened yesterday, sparking a house fire that summoned firefighters, who then had to call the NYPD after they found what a DCPI spokesman told us were “multiple plants.” As of this moment, a police spokesman told Brokelyn that no arrests have been made, and police are still getting a count on how many pot plants were found in the house, but no matter how many it was, someone’s big investment just went up in smoke.

Our tipster who emailed us tells us, “Funny, I rode by several hours earlier and there were a million fire engines there and I remember thinking, ‘Wow people around here smoke a lot of pot.’ Apparently, some of the sun lamps caused a small fire and neighbors called the Fire Department and now someone is in deep shit.”
