Hey kids, it’s Thursday, which means it’s almost the weekend, which means it’s almost time for your next rendez-vous with a stranger. And whether you’re out meeting people in bars or at home reviewing their dating profiles, it’s equally disappointing to discover that the pickings are ever slim, and your standards are ever negotiable.
Thankfully, a comedian is having similar life experiences, so she can make us laugh about it together. Tonight, funny lady Lane Moore hosts a show called Tinder Live! — and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
Tinder Live! is a monthly comedy show where Moore projects her phone screen onstage so you can play along as she considers various suitors and how their ab shots, is-that-his-sister pics and questionable captions make them eligible or ineligible to date. A guest panel of comedians weighs in on what they see, too, and the audience can yell-vote when it comes time for Moore to choose whether she swipes right or left.

Your participation doesn’t stop there, in fact. Be forewarned: if you’ve got Tinder open and you’re in a 5-mile radius of the show, you risk having your profile come up on the screen and being recognized by folks you didn’t know were in the audience. Worse yet, you might even get right-swiped and end up in some kind of strange voyeuristic flirtation as Moore messages you onscreen from the stage.
Humiliation risks aside, this month’s guest panel will make you feel real comfortable: longtime Conan sketch writer Jon Glaser, 30 Rock’s Scott Adsit, and Stephanie March, from Law and Order: SVU. Don’t you want to see what Alex Cabot thinks about Tinder’s sexual predators?
It all goes down tonight at 9pm, at The Bell House (149 7th Street) in Gowanus. Doors at 8:30pm, and tickets are $15.
