The slogan of Hill Country Barbecue Market is “honoring the barbecue & live music capital of Texas since 2007.” Its downtown Brooklyn branch, located in a soaring two-story space at 345 Adams Street, brings that same mix of excellent barbecue and world-renowned music.

Austin, TX is Hill Country’s spiritual epicenter and Hill County LIVE showcases the same American Roots Music found in Texas and beyond, including: Honky Tonk, Western Swing, Rockabilly, Roots Rock, Americana, Bluegrass and Blues.

Hill Country features artists five nights a week during its 5 to 7 p.m. happy hour, and hosts bigger acts in its upstairs space. On December 11, the Emmy-nominated, Brooklyn-based Gangstagrass will be bringing their unique mix of bluegrass and hip-hop to Hill Country.

Hill Country Live has welcomed artists such as Billy Joe Shaver, Bob Schneider, John Doe & The Sadies, Puss ‘n Boots featuring Norah Jones, Hayes Carll, Roseanne Cash, Rosie Flores, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Roger Creager, Dale Watson, Jason Boland, and Chip Taylor to its stage.

Started by Brooklyn producer Rench in 2007, Gangstagrass has grown into a critically acclaimed success celebrated by media from the Washington Post to NPR. More than 50,000 fans have enjoyed the band’s hundreds of performances or have bought one of the band’s four albums.

In 2010, the band enlisted T.O.N.E-z to record the song “Long Hard Times to Come,“ which, as the theme song for the FX series Justified, won the band an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music,” as well as thousands of new fans.

The band hits the stage at 9:30 p.m. with doors opening at 9. Hill Country expects a standing-room only crowd, so if you plan to take our advice and eat beforehand, you’ll want to call them at 718-885-4608, and ask to be seated in the main dining room. Be sure to let them know you’re coming to see the band.
