Though our days of dancing around the bedroom singing, “Hey Ya” are long behind us, we’re still pretty big fans of the Duo Formerly Known As Outkast. Unfortunately, Big Boi and Andre 3000 have had some beef lately and it doesn’t look like they’ll reunite anytime soon; luckily, though, they’ve both been putting out some solid solo work in the meantime, and over the next few months Big Boi will be playing two Brooklyn shows with Killer Mike, including this summer’s Celebrate Brooklyn festival.
Big Boi’s first Brooklyn show will go down on April 24th at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Bowl. And on June 20th, he’ll be heading to the Prospect Park Bandshell as part of the 35th Annual Celebrate Brooklyn! festival, an incredibly fun performance series that also occasionally happens to be free. Expect to hear hits off last year’s celebrated album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, in addition to some new stuff Big Boi’s been cooking up for us. Tickets aren’t on sale yet for either show, and no word yet on whether or not Big Boi’s Celebrate Brooklyn cameo will come at no cost, but keep your eyes peeled in the upcoming weeks; the perpetually under-appreciated Killer Mike will also be performing at Public Assembly in Williamsburg on March 20.
