So you’ve been out there at bars, killing it at bocce and reaping the sexy rewards. Now though, you’re bored schooling suckers at your local drinkery, you’re dreaming of bigger things. Well, we’ve got the biggest thing for you: the Parks Department is holding a free bocce ball tournament this Saturday in Marine Park. Win and not only do you get bragging rights as one of Brooklyn’s top dog bocce ball teams, but you get to go represent Brooklyn in the Parks Department tournament of champions later this month. So, what do you say, are you…ballsy enough to play?

Saturday, September 13, the Marine Park bocce ball fields (Filmore Avenue and East 31st Street) will see the kind of determined competition people usually reserve for gambling on football, at the NYC Parks Brooklyn Bocce Tournament 2014. As befitting any athletic event that’s worth competing in, you’ll have to wake up early and get yourself down there at 8am, and then be ready for a full day of bocce ball. You can register up to four people as a team, or you can show up as a smaller group or even a lone wolf, in which case you’ll get mashed up with other non-quartets.

Whether you bring a team or get assigned to one though, bring your A-game, because the top three teams on the day are gonna move on to represent Brooklyn at the NYC Parks Citywide Championship at Juniper Park in Queens on September 20. Ready to represent Brooklyn in all of its glory? Then sign up today, because again, it’s free and you’re ready to win more than just free drinks from friends. You’re ready to win Brooklyn’s respect.
