Help Red Hook Flicks happen (and win prizes) at their awesome fundraiser this weekend

Don’t you want a hand in this? via Facebook

Seeing as how it involves free outdoor movies during the summer in a neighborhood we like, we’re obviously fans of Red Hook Flicks. And that’s not even taking into account that they usually have an awesome lineup, which only makes us like them more. They’ve been selflessly playing cool movies for free for you, so how about hitting up their annual fundraiser this weekend and giving them a helping hand? Hate the concept of charity on a Randian level? You can also win stuff and eat food, so your self-interest can be rewarded too!

If you love Red Hook Flicks, their fundraiser at 5pm on Sunday, May 31 is the perfect time to show them that love. The fundraiser at Bait and Tackle (320 Van Brunt Street) will run you just $10 and not only allows you to help the movie series happen, but your entry also gets you a free plate of food courtesy of the series’ sponsors, which include folks like Steve’s Key Lime Pie, Hometown BBQ and The Good Fork. There’s also a raffle going down, with prizes from local businesses like liquor courtesy of Van Brunt Stillhouse, cheese courtesy of Saxelby Cheesemongers and even a bike shelf, which will save space in your apartment. AND you get to hear the schedule before everyone else.

When you think about it, you’re paying $10 for all of this, to help make 8 movies happen later this summer. Compare that to how you usually pay $15 for a single movie that doesn’t come with food and prizes and exclusive announcements, and well, we know which cinema-based event is a better bargain.
