Halloween still lives for Brooklyn kids

You can still take them to get candy/fight crime. via Favim

Sandy may have wrecked the Village Halloween parade and allowed Chris Christie to bend the laws of space and time, but out here, we’re doing well enough to get costumed up and demand free candy like a bunch of freeloaders. This is especially good news for parents, who now don’t have to explain to their tiny, stricken Batmen and Princess Meridas that they can’t go trick or treating because of downed power lines. So as long as Halloween is still on, here’s some places to enjoy it with your kids:The Park Slope Halloween parade is canceled, but Cobble Hill is still running one, today at 4pm, starting at Cobble Hill Park. They could also use some volunteers to help clean up at 8:30pm.

Toy Space welcomes any and all trick or treaters at their locations in South Slope (426 7th Avenue) and Ditmas Park (1410 Cortelyou Road).

Greenwood Park is having a family-friendly Halloween event today between 1pm and 7pm with trick or treating, face painting, music and drink specials.

Lark, in Prospect Park South (1007 Church Avenue) is having Halloween fun of their own from 4pm to 7pm, with a meetup before everyone goes trick-or-treating. Even better, they’re running a happy hour with $1 off beer and wine, as a treat for parents.

The Painted Pot pottery studio is having Halloween parties today between 10am and 6pm at their Bay Ridge (8009 Third Avenue), Park Slope (72 7th Avenue) and Carroll Gardens (339 Smith Street) locations with candy as long as supplies last, and they’re waving their $6 studio fee for anyone that comes dressed in costume.

Bird River Studios (343 Grand Street, between Marcy and Havemeyer, Williamsburg) is hosting a Halloween shindig at 4pm, complete with special backdrops for your fridge photos (Facebook, obviously), spooky-themed crafts and trick-or-treating (mostly treating)

The
Clinton Hill Children’s Halloween Walk and Performance isn’t gonna let a little rain scare them. This incredible parade weaves through Clinton Hill from 5pm to 6:30pm, but it’s not your average parade. Throughout the parade route you’ll see performaces, be able to trick-or-treat and these folks even stick to a theme! These year’s theme: The Mayan Apocalypse of 2012!! (Eek!) The performance outside 313 Clinton Avenue starts at 5:30pm and runs every 30 minutes until 9pm. Streets are blocked off for the parade, so it’s free reign for all trick-or-treaters!

Pantomima’s Halloween Celebration
is a straight up partaaaaay! Kids’ music, DISCOOOO dancin’, food, ghoulish décor and crazy/cool masks! Oh. And CANDAAAYYYY!!!! This event is for kids 4 and under only (and their grown-ups, obviously), because they party too hard for anyone else to handle it. It all goes down between 4pm and 6pm at Pantomima, 462 36th Street, Greenwood.

I love a parade! And so does Brooklyn on Halloween, Williamsburg is getting into the spirit also. Starting at 4pm at Flying Squirrel (96 North 6th Street between Wythe and Berry Streets) and winding around through Sweet William (112 North 6th Street),  Smoochie Baby (110 Berry Street) and Mini Jake (178 N. 9th Street). There’ll be trick-or-treating throughout. After the party it’s the what? That’s right, the AFTERparty! And this situation is crazy because they’re serving TWO afterparty options (starting at 5pm). Klub 4 Kidz (159 N. 4th Street btw, Driggs and Bedford) will have rock climbing, cupcakes(!), face painting, air brush tattoos for ages 3 years and up with a $10 admission. PLAY (33 Nassau Ave at Dobbin Street) will host the hardcore party (for babies and toddlers only) with food, activities and a performance by Rug Bug with a $5 admission.
