Right now, the world is full of people who think they’re the next Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg, and for all we know, you there reading this are one of those people. So you’ve got a great idea, since when has that mattered as much as being able to actually do something with the idea? Fortunately, if your idea is as good as you say it is, you’ve got chance to pitch some of best tech minds in the city at an upcoming tech conference and win $50,000 to make your next Facebook into theory into the next great app that swallows the world in practice.
The Make It In Brooklyn conference is coming June 25, and beyond the usual panel discussions where you try really hard to learn stuff and take notes and ultimately fall asleep, you’ve also got a chance to get in front of some successful tech entrepreneurs and pitch your magnificent idea to them. Your idea can either exist in a Tech (software, platforms, high-tech hardware) or Maker (physical products in fields like food, fashion, retail and the like) category, the important thing is that you can show you have some connection to Brooklyn and that you can impress a panel made up of top minds from MakerBot, F Cube and more.
All you need to do to get in front of the judges is fill out this form and be picked as one of the five finalists from either category. After that, you’ve got a two minute pitch and have to withstand 4 minutes of questioning from judges. If you beat out your fellow finalists in the pitch competition, you can get up to $50,000 from the co-chairs of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. $50,000! That’ll pay the rent in your awesome Brooklyn HQ for like a month or two! Get moving now though, because if you want to do this pitching, you’ve gotta apply by May 31.
