Tuesdays at Tea Lounge: baby food making, comedy and more

Not only is Park Slope’s Tea Lounge the No. 1 place for accidental Steve Jobs tributes, it’s also home to weekly free events that go well with a cup of chai (or a beer. There is a bar there too, after all). This month’s calendar includes tonight’s free skillshare that is so fittingly perfect for the lounge’s rep as a baby mecca that we won’t even make a pun about it: Making homemade baby food! The class covers creative purees and fun treats for your new eater. And it’s starting right now at 3pm! See what else is on tap for this month below:

Oct. 11 – Brooklyn Skillshare Presents: Making Homemade Baby Food: Creative Purees and Fun Treats for Your New Eater – 3:00PM

Join us to learn easy methods for making fun purees and first foods for new eaters. We’ll talk about good first foods for baby – including the texture and flavor of first foods and why it’s important to shape little palates at the very beginning of their eating experience. We’ll demonstrate several recipes for creative purees, both savory and sweet. Emphasis will be on fruits, vegetables, and legumes (meat/fish will be discussed briefly but won’t be demonstrated). Walk away with a list of fun and easy ideas for baby’s first foods!

Oct. 18 — I Like You, Maude: StorySLAM with Featured Guest Storyteller Andy Ross – 7:30PM

I Like You, Maude is akin to other storySLAMS in NYC. Anyone can tell a story on any topic. Just show up, put your name in the hat, and if picked you have five minutes to regale the audience with your tale. The stories must be TRUE and told WITHOUT notes or paper. For having the plums to bare your soul to an audience, every storyteller wins a prize! Each show will have a featured guest storyteller. This month’s guest is Andy Ross (Real Characters, Moth StorySLAM winner, The Liar Show). Hosted by Kerri Doherty (F’d in Park Slope).

October 25th — Fresh Start Comedy – 9:00PM

Want to hit the reset button on your week? Laugh your indiscretions away at Fresh Start Comedy on the last Tuesday of every month. Featuring the best stand-ups in Park Slope, New York City and the country, Fresh Start encourages comedians to lay it all on the line… because if things go wrong, we give them — you guessed it — a fresh start. Hosts Mike Pomranz (blogger, Tosh.0) and Joe Zimmerman (The Beards of Comedy Tour) promise things will be better than before. Remember, this is the first show of the rest of your life. Fresh Start comedy has featured comics from Dave Letterman, Comedy Central and VH1.
