The NYC Beach Bus is back tomorrow and we’ve got free tickets for you Brokesters

UPDATE: The NYC Beach Bus has been temporarily suspended for the summer.

The summer solstice be damned: We say summer starts this Memorial Day weekend. We ain’t waitin’ for June to call it summertime. We beat today’s forecast with our will and now it’s sunny and warm outside, plus NYC beaches open this weekend, the city is providing all pasty humans (and those who don’t want cancer, so everyone) free sunscreen – what more could we ask for?

The answer is FREE BEACH BUS TICKETS.

One of the groovier ways to schlep your bum to Rockaway, Fire Island and Riis Park is the NYC Beach Bus, and it will now also carry ya booty to Mountain Creek Water Park, which is a New Jersey ski resort and the kind of capitalist suburban wonderland that boggles the mind and releases all the endorphins of us Brooklynites who’ve become convinced Coney Island is the pinnacle of water ride modernity.

The Beach Bus to Rockaway or Riis will run you 17 American buckaroos for a round trip weekend ride, and that includes free Sixpoint beer. An objectively better experience than waiting for the F train during rush hour. (The trip to the other destinations are a bit pricier.)

Here’s some more basic info on the buses and how to win Brokelyn’s two free tickets to the Rockaways.

  • Summer in NYC is a time of magic because our landlord finally turns off the heat and NOTHING beats drinking beer outside in the sun

  • Summer in NYC is a time of magic because the finance bros have deserted it for the Hamptons. ;) And because of street festivals and block parties.

  • Summer in NYC is a time of magic because the beach, the sun, the music, drinks and food rejuvenate our winter-worn bodies and reminds us why we put up with all the other shit!

  • Summer in NYC is a time of magic, as our winter-worn bodies rejuvenate for beach parties, bbq feasts, live music, and sunshine.

  • Summertime is magic because I am emerging from hibernation to be social again! And warmth! I grew up somewhere without seasons, so I need the cold to end.
