Friday, celebrate six years of Fool’s Gold records for just ten bucks

Friday marks the 6th anniversary for Fool’s Gold Records and they are bringing in a sick lineup to SRB Brooklyn (177 2nd Avenue, Gowanus) to celebrate the occasion. The Brooklyn-based record label has been establishing themselves as a standout label in the industry by merging the two distinctive sounds of hip-hop and electronic music, and now they’re celebrating their success. Some of the label’s big hitters (A-Trak, Danny Brown and Chromeo) will be missing the show due to conflicting tour schedules. However, don’t make the mistake of underestimating this B- Team, each with a dynamic sound of their own, these guys are blazing their own trail and securing their future in hip hop. Seasoned with acts like Philly rapper GrandeMarshall, who at 19 is KILLING IT, receiving favorable features from The Fader and giving other prodigies like Meek Mill a run for their money. Another act you shouldn’t dare miss is Bodega Bamz hailing from Spanish Harlem. Bamz’ muse is clearly his heritage and allows it to brilliantly influence his beats pulling samples from 50’s Tejano, Celia Cruz (see “Don Francisco“).

On this roster of underground and auspicious acts, the head liner is however a head scratcher. Juvenile is back at again and we are left wondering, “Where the hell have you been?” Don’t misinterpret my confusion for a lack of appreciation for his classics. “Back That Azz Up” will forever be a grinding anthem and like any girl my hands proudly find my knees like magnets anytime this is played in public. Either way, this is going to be great show with underground artists that are guaranteed to blow up by next year and another guarantee for some nostalgic booty jams. And honestly with tickets at $10, this event won’t just be  cheap thrill, but one for the books.
