Feeling a bit lonely lately? Desperately want to save a doomed relationship with an injection of cuteness? Really love cats? Just realized that cats aren’t just a thing made up by the internet and now you want one? Well, there’s good news if you fall into any of those four groups: the Silent Barn (603 Bushwick Avenue) is holding a free cat adoption event on Sunday where you can find the furry feline friend you’ve always wanted.
The Meow Day adoption event, on May 25 from noon until 5pm, will feature rescue cats from Bushwick and Ridgewood that have been in the care of Crusade for Cats. Come across one that catches your eye/heart, and you’ll be able to take the little guy or gal home with you right then and there. You can even pick up a cat bed while you’re there, since hand-made ones will be available for purchase.
Of course, even if you don’t wind up finding the right cat, there are plenty of reasons to head to the Barn on Sunday. This is a full-fledged party, with raffle prizes, face painting, a cat video booth, cat nail art and cat-inspired merch of all stripes. Obviously there are a decent amount of cat adoption opportunities in Brooklyn, but if you’ve been thinking that meow is the time to get a cat, you’ll probably also have fun at the Silent Barn while picking one out.
