Catch free plays in community gardens at the Communal Spaces Festival

When your play is outdoors, your costuming can be…casual. via Facebook

You love Brooklyn, you love theater, you love supporting the local arts, you can experience all three this weekend at the 4th Annual Communal Spaces Festival in Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill!

On Saturday and Sunday this weekend in August (30 and 31) and the first two weekends of September (6 and 7, 13 and 14), The Communal Spaces Festival will feature eight one-act plays that are each inspired by and take place in four different community gardens around Brooklyn. The event is free, and maps of the area will be given out as audiences are encouraged to walk to the different gardens where plays take place, as well as explore the neighborhood and enjoy the local coffee shops, bars, and other establishments.

You’ll get plays about mayors-in-training trying to find lost kids, plays about people fleeing the rent (hey you can relate we bet), plays about competing competitions and so many more. The best part though, is that they’re all free. Or maybe the best part is that they’re all outdoors. Let’s just say those are tied for the best part.
