Excuse us while we freshen up a bit

Things are going to be just a little bit different around here when you come back on Monday. Yes, Brokelyn will still be the same site you know and love. But there will be even more things to love. Really cool things. We’re relaunching with a suite of new features designed to meet more of our community’s place-going, stuff-buying needs. So starting on Monday, and possibly even before then, you’ll notice:

• Free only-on-Brokelyn classifieds, where you can post your Stylewriter II, find a roommate and hunt for a job.

• A super-badass event calendar where you can find cheap, free and fun stuff to do every day. We want to make this the first place Brooklyn looks to find shows, concerts, classes, parties, swaps, pick-up games, stitch-and-bitches and everything else that makes this borough so much damn fun. If you’re hosting an event, post it yourself for free. (Enter your kegger at your own risk.) We’ll be trolling the calendar for blog ideas, so don’t miss out on the chance to put your naked ukelele recital in front of the widest possible audience.

• A directory where local shops, restaurants and other businesses can show their love for Broketown by posting their own coupons or deals.

• Site profiles where you can show your bad self or crouch behind a Peggy Olson avatar. The profiles will keep all your bracingly witty comments in one place, as well as let you post classifieds and events, and mark content you want to follow up on later.

And there will be even more coming soon. As we add our first new features over the weekend, there may be some hiccups, slow loading times or flames shooting out of your monitor. But we promise that our snazzier-than-ever site will be worth the wait.
