(Un)Forming Paper Workshop

January 12 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$25

Use code “BROKELYN” for $10 off ticket.

Participants will learn about and experiment with various methods of deconstructing and reconstructing paper forms using recycled newspapers, adhesives and coloring agents.

Collectively shredding, cutting, tearing and pulpifying these newspapers, participants will then refashion them into new paper forms using adhesives, drying screens/molds and coloring agents—pigments and paints. As we expand beyond the flat plane, we will consider the paper’s sculptural qualities, as well as its potential for holding emotional content. Therein, the physical process of de-assembling and re-assembling the paper may become a symbolic act of processing past events and recent histories featured in these newspapers, both individually and as a group.

While all materials will be supplied, participants are invited to contribute any personal ephemera they wish to incorporate into the paper, including photographs, text, printed matter, fabric and organic materials.

Class is open to all ages and experience levels.
