Target First Saturday Celebrates the Democratic Process

On November 5, Target First Saturday presents an evening of programming inspired by the upcoming presidential election. Highlights include music by Slavic Soul Party; a performance by Brown Girls Burlesque; and a comedy set with Baratunde Thurston, Sherrod Small, and Christian Finnegan.

Special exhibitions on view include Marilyn Minter: Pretty/Dirty; Iggy Pop Life Class by Jeremy Deller; Beverly Buchanan—Ruins and Rituals; and Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present.

5pm Music: Brooklyn-based Balkan brass band Slavic Soul Party

6pm: Curator Tour

6:30-8:30pm: Hands-On Art. Create your own campaign pin

7pm Music: DJ Chela spins a set celebrating world rhythms

*7:30pm: Interactive workshop with artist Zoe Leonard

*8pm: Burlesque performance. (see photo) Parental discretion is advised

8:15-9pm: Kids Corner Storytelling

9pm: Comedy: Baratunde Thurston and the hosts of A&E’s “Black and White” Sherrod Small and Christian Finnegan will tackle the upcoming election.
