New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks

June 16 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

The 2017 Concerts in the Parks, Music Director Alan Gilbert’s final concerts in New York as Music Director, will feature works premiered by the Philharmonic and composed in its hometown: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World; Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; and Gershwin’s An American in Paris. The Philharmonic is inviting audiences to bring their instruments and join the Orchestra for a community performance of the “Goin’ Home” theme from the Largo movement of Dvořák’s New World Symphony before each outdoor concert. Audiences are invited to bring any instrument (voice included) to the parks to join in the performances — participation by novices and professionals alike is encouraged! The concert will be followed by fireworks.
