HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL
November 2 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm$5
ONE-OF-A-KIND GOWANUS VENUE AND LOCAL ARTISTS TEAM UP
FOR A NIGHT OF GHOULISH DELIGHTS
This November 2nd, Halloween lovers can celebrate All Soul’s Night in style at MIRROR Tea House’s first ever HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL. Slink down Union Street past the casket company to MIRROR’s gorgeous ghost-white space for a night of costumed revelry, with dancing, drinks, and decadent live music courtesy of THE AQUARIENCE, as well as prizes for scariest, funniest, best group, and best overall costumes.
Since it opened in 2017, MIRROR has hosted a wide variety of live music and art-centered events in their unique and distinctive space on Union Street. This year owner Fumio Tashiro and resident fine artist Miho Morita are teaming up with Gowanus-based performing artists Melody Bates and Nico Grelli and their co-conspirators to throw the Halloween party of your dark and most delicious dreams. The category is High Halloween Glamour, darling; the veil is thin and we are here for it!
Live entertainment will be sprinkled throughout the evening. Tashiro, who is an accomplished jazz bassist, will perform an improvised live set, accompanied by dancers. Co-hosts Melody Bates and Nico Grelli have merged their twin sun signs to form musical-astrological phenomenon THE AQUARIENCE, which will make its debut at the party. Asked what party-goers should expect from their performance, the duo responded, “sexy, but in a weird way. Intergalactic art porn with a good beat. We’ll be in costume as people in costume at a costume party, and we will sing three songs.”
The striking interior of MIRROR, curated by Miho Morita, will make a fabulous backdrop for costumed revelers. “MIRROR was created to acknowledge and celebrate the ‘Now,’ by embodying the fundamental ideals of Morí: diversity, community, and collaboration,” says Tashiro. “It is an invitation to commune with us as we explore traditional as well as contemporary cuisines, arts, and cultures.”
There is a $5 cover charge. Libations and light snacks will be available. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door, depending on availability.
