Creation as Ritual: Performing Disguise

Join us for the closing celebration of our multisensory exhibition Disguise: Masks and Global African Art. Get an unmasked look at how internationally known artists reimagine ritual, tradition, and cultural practices through an afternoon filled with performances, talks, and workshops. Participants include Jonathan Jackson, co-founder of Blavity; Eyitemi Popo, editor-in-chief of Ayiba magazine; Omar Dubois, editor-in-chief of True Africa; and Chino Amobi, creative director of NON Records. Program also features Safia Elhillo, BKLYN ZULU, Iyapo Repository, Yatta Zoker, Brendan Fernandes, Djassi DaCosta Johnson, and Amanda Jane Graham.

Curatorial support provided by AFRICA SALON, Yale University’s contemporary African arts and culture festival.
