Ditmas Park full of pub and sandwich crawls all month long

Beer and flowers and then more beer sure sounds like a nice way to spend a day.

Hey there, winter weary homebody who’s just dying to get out of the house. Have you listened to our frequent entreaties to go to Ditmas Park and have some fun there because it’s a really nice neighborhood full of great places to eat and drink and cool houses to stare at when you’re kind of tipsy and sad you’ll never own a house? If you still haven’t, March is the month to do it, because March is Eat and Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou, which means Cortelyou Road will be home to both pub AND sandwich crawls this month.

Yes, whether you think eating is superior to drinking or you think drinking is the Eat and Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou is the month-long local commerce boosting event for you. This week, through March 7, favorites of ours like Sycamore, Bar Chord, Highbury Pub and the Purple Yam will be offering drink specials on beers and cocktails. Bring your beer books to double up on the deals, or accidentally leave them at home and then realize you really like the place and come back in the summer when you’ve got the traveling bug.

If walking down the road eating sandwiches is more your thing, sandwich shops all along Corteyou like Café Madeline, Catskill Bagel and Salahi Deli will be providing discounts on their bread-based creations from March 15 to 21. Plus, there’s a prix-fixe dinner week from March 8 to March 14 featuring the likes of Farm on Adderly, Purple Yam (again) and more, and a shopping crawl from March 22 to March 28 with discounts all along Cortelyou. So come on, shake the rust of those legs and start wandering Ditmas Park, if only to get a reminder of what it’s like to drink out in civilization as opposed to chugging whiskey on your couch.
