You can BE Beyonce at Glasslands’ ‘Pussy to the Sky’

Think YOU can you be Bey? via Facebook

Let’s say you spent most of 2012 watching and re-watching Beyonce’s “Countdown” video, trying to pick up tips on how you, too, could show him how you ride it. Super Bowl time rolled around–infatuation peaked. Then there was Life Is But a Dream, and it all came tumbling down. Come on, Bey, at least tell us who your lyrics are based on. But whether you’re a card-carrying member of the Bey Hive or want to sucker punch her in her poreless face, Josh Sharp of UCB and Punderdome mastermind Jo Firestone have created an event just for you: an audience-cast original Beyonce jukebox musical at Glasslands called Pussy to the Sky.

Think you can be Bey? Then head to Glasslands on November 17 to be a part of the first ever Original Beyonce Musical. Pussy to the Sky is the inaugural event in Firestone and Sharp’s “The Artist is Watching” series in which audience members themselves are the art, and the mastermind behind the idea isn’t revealed until the end of the performance. In this instance, the anonymous artist came up with a jukebox musical “kind of like Mamma Mia,” according to Firestone.

The show will feature all your favorite hits from the starlet, but performed by audience members who are eager to show off their pipes. What it won’t feature is a plot based in reality, so no guarantee of a stint from Hov, though you’re welcome to sport your best Rocawear. Think you have the thighs and voice range it takes to be a cast member of Pussy to the Sky? Doors open at 8pm, show starts at 8:30pm. And of course, if you’ve got stage fright, you’re welcome to put your “Love on Top” as a silent spectator.

The Artist is Watching: Pussy to the Sky, Sunday, November 17, 8pm, Glasslands, 289 Kent Avenue, Williamsburg, $10
