Entry is a $5 suggested donation, which also includes a speaker Q&A and free wine and food tasting. Ten dollars for the two of you for food, drinks, and a movie? Jeez, that’s cheaper than the dinner of Miller High Life and cheeseballs we were planning on having at the Levee later. And classier. (But if you’re planning to gorge, keep in mind: it is a fundraiser after all).
Movies screened will be Dirt! The Movie on Feb. 3; Gasland on Feb. 10; What’s Organic About Organic on Feb. 17, and Garlic is as Good as Ten Mothers on Feb. 24. More deets, as well as movie descriptions, are available on the Bushwick Food Co-Op’s website.
The film events run from 7-10pm at Brooklyn Fire Proof (119 Ingraham Street at Porter Ave, L train to Morgan Ave.). More on the Co-op itself: It sources produce from local farmers but also supplies foods like homemade tempeh, bread, and artisinal cashew cheese (Yum!). Membership requires four hours of work every four weeks and Park Slope Food Co-op members can get credit there by working at the one in Bushwick.
