Mark your calendars Weg-oholics, Wegmans, the crowd favorite upstate New York-based grocery store, announced that they’re opening the first NYC Wegmans store at the Brooklyn Navy Yard at 21 Flushing Ave. in October.
We know, it’s finally spring, and the last thing you want to contemplate is the end of summer, but on Sunday, October 27, Brooklyn will officially welcome its first Wegmans, which has 99 stores across the northeast.
As far as what to expect, Wegmans released a statement:
Brooklyn will feature more than 60,000 individual products, including an extensive restaurant-quality prepared foods department, more than 4,000 organic products, fresh seafood delivered whole and cut to order daily, hundreds of produce items and 300 varieties of imported and domestic cheese. The store will also include a second-floor mezzanine with a bar, serving food and wine, beer, and spirits.
The grocery store’s prepared foods are renowned and the products cheaper on average than most competitors; not to mention Wegmans regularly ranks as one of the best companies to work for by FORTUNE Magazine.
Speaking of jobs, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Wegmans is also hiring and training for 150 full-time and 350 part-time positions, as they announced in a press release: “Applicants are encouraged to apply online at jobs.wegmans.com, or call 347-652-2424 for more information. Interviews are conducted by appointment only and applications are neither available nor accepted at the construction site.”
