Brooklyn Poetry: Candace Williams, Gregory Crosby, Natalie Eilbert

As the editor at Yes Poetry and Brooklyn resident, it’s vital to highlight these poetic voices in order to support literature, activism, and poetic expression.

Here are three of my favorite poems I read recently.

1. Candace Williams – “Desk Lunch Poem

“working is the only reason
they let me eat”

2. Gregory Crosby – “In Memory of When I Cared

“We’re an elegy, if by elegy you mean
a motherfucker ready to light this place up.”

3. Natalie Eilbert – “With Her

“Either way, something collapses
as the highway spells nearby distance. A great cross
is mounted over a mound. The surface eases.”
