Talk about cold blooded. The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is being forced to bid adieu to its Brooklyn Bridge Park location to make room for Ample Hills.
By the end of 2018, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory will close its long standing Bridge Park spot in the firehouse. As reported in Brooklyn Paper, the ice cream shop co-owner Mark Thompson said: “They made a choice, I have until the end of this month to vacate…We made everything on the premises. The thing that bothers me most is that I have 38 employees — all jobs I cant maintain without a place.”
The long-time store has been open for 17 years. And many ice cream lovers bemoaned the fact that Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory will say a forced good-bye to the park at the end of December.
The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory’s proposal to stay in the space was rejected earlier in the year. Ample Hills received a 10-year lease with a three-year renewal option. They will be setting up shop in the new space starting in summer 2019.
