Finally.

Eric Gonzalez, Brooklyn District Attorney, plans to absolve low-level pot charges for New York residents.

What does this mean? New York residents with past marijuana misdemeanor convictions will have the opportunity to clean their records. According to BK Reader: “Under the new program, anyone convicted of low-level marijuana possession (PL 221.15, PL 221.10 or PL 221.05) will be eligible to file a motion asking to vacate that conviction and dismiss the underlying charge.”

This opportunity is part of the District Attorney’s new program, Justice 2020 Initiative, and will also include legal consultations, assistance in filing, and meetings with a defense lawyer. New York residents can file motions starting September 21.
