Leaked emails and DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s resignation aside, the DNC kicks off today at 4pm with the theme of “united together” and will march on forward through Thursday night, with surely at least more gusto than the 51-foot-joint that deflated straight out the gate in DC earlier today. This week will have a star-studded lineup, a welcome change from last week’s horrors.
Tonight, Elizabeth Warren is the keynote speaker, and we’ll also hear from Bernie, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and Michelle Obama. Tuesday night, Bill Clinton headlines, Wednesday Obama and Biden take the stage, and finally, on Thursday, Hillary, after an introduction by Chelsea, will accept the nomination.
While we didn’t hear word of any official BK watch parties, nor any Chillary Clinton frozen specials, we did find five Brooklyn bars where you can get your DNC drink and watch on this week, with a few happy hours to boot. We’ll be adding to the list throughout the week; if you know of anywhere, send us a shout out in the comments!
Pacific Standard Bar
82 Fourth Ave
Park Slope
The California-themed and craft beer bar will project the DNC on a big screen in their front and back rooms, sound on. Each night, they’ll be running happy hour prices, a dollar off drafts and wells, until 11pm. The NYC chapter of Drinking Liberally will be there to watch Monday through Wednesday nights, if you could use some organized camaraderie.
Longbow Pub & Pantry
7316 Third Ave
Bay Ridge
On Thursday, the final night of the DNC, the Bay Ridge Democrats are having a watch party at Longbow Pub, the Welsh football and rugby hub in the neighborhood. “Come hang with us at one of our favorite neighborhood pubs and find out how YOU can help defeat Trump in Bay Ridge,” they wrote in the Facebook event. No drink specials have been announced at this time, but enjoy 12 drafts and 30 bottles that from both British and local breweries.
Black Swan
1048 Bedford Ave.
Bed-Stuy
Update: Black Swan is not in fact showing the DNC, although we were told otherwise over the phone.
The Bed-Stuy staple and British pub will have the convention on every TV. If you arrive before 8pm, you can partake of their daily happy hour of $5 drafts, well drinks, and $3 shots; after that, they have different specials every night of the week. Tonight, it’s half off bottles of wine, so maybe there’s your chance to Chill on some white wine or rose.
Die Koelner Bierhalle
84 St. Mark’s Place
Prospect Heights
The expansive Prospect Heights beer hall will project the DNC on their big screen if you ask them to. So, ask! They have a very enticing special Monday through Wednesday nights: buy one, get one. And with 30 beers on draft and seven bottles, you’ll have plenty of options to double up on.
Legion Bar
790 Metropolitan Ave.
Williamsburg
Legion can be a low key hang, or packed and rowdy with weekend dance parties, or something in between with literary events. Tonight, it’ll probably be a more mellow spot to watch on their front room TVs. $1 off drafts and wells all night.
Heavy Woods
50 Wyckoff Ave.
Bushwick
The Bushwick coffee shop/bar will project the convention on the big screen in their back room from 430pm on. They’re calling it “DNC—Sharknado edition.” Specials are TBD at the moment–ask your bartender—but will consist of some version of a cheap beer and shot combo. Fuel up with delicious New Orleans grub from the Tchoup Shop, their in-house kitchen, serving until gumbo, poboys, red beans and the like until 11pm.
Branded Saloon
603 Vanderbilt Ave., Prospect Heights
The rodeo-themed bar is showing the convention with full sound on all of its TVs, in addition to on the big screen in the back (when there’s not a conflicting event). Pair to guzzle some speeches by guzzling a few beer and shot specials (Narragansett tall boy and whiskey) or a pickleback, and get some sustenance for the long fight ahead with the bar’s menu of fried chicken BLTs, fried beets, burgers and more.

The bartender at Black Swan refused to put the DNC on last night, and didn't even seem to know what it was. This is despite the fact that I called earlier in the day to confirm with them and the woman I'd talked to told me they would show it. When I told him what it was and explained that it would require sound, he said it would be impossible to turn the music off. Black swan is a lousy place.
Not really into the political scene. But I might show up just to hang out and watch the theatrics.
