Brokerlyn: A roundup of (actual!) good apartment deals right now, starting at $750/month

This looks like a set from Amelie. Damn. (Gowanus, $2,550/month)

Finding a livable apartment in Brooklyn within your budget in 2017 is more difficult than plenty of reality TV shows: you probably have a better shot at winning Jeopardy than finding a one-bedroom for under $1,000 a month. We here at Brokelyn’s Budget Apartment Department are here to help. We’ve combed Craigslist for you and found the borough’s best deals this week.

“Looking for a responsible individual to rent a furnished room”
Crown Heights
$750/month
Room in a two-bedroom

The photos on this one are pretty bleak (two different shots of a blow-up mattress), but $750 for a private room in a neighborhood relatively close to the city is a damn fine deal. You’ll be sharing the apartment with a couple, but you have YOUR OWN WINDOW plus heat, hot water, light and gas are included in that sweet, lovely three-digit monthly rent price.

“2 awesome easy going fat cats”
Crown Heights
$1000/month
Room in a two-bedroom

Not a bad price for “bicycle-friendly Crown Heights”. For real though Atlantic-Barclay’s is one stop away and it looks like a well-kept place. The pictured Buddha statue shows that the current renters are enlightened, or at least want to be.

________

Bougie! (Bed-Stuy, $2,850/month)

$1850 for 2 beds in Crown Heights?!?
Crown Heights
$1850/month
Two-bedroom

This one looks pretty snazzy. It’s located in an elevator building and the kitchen seems new and clean, based on the photos and the description. Looks like you’ll need to do some jerry rigging to use the bathtub as a shower, but hey, easier than using a shower as a bathtub.

“Maybe don’t bring the party home, but by all means go party”
Greenpoint
$1400/month
Two-bedroom

Fully furnished, this double-bedroom in a brownstone looks damn big and has a month to month lease. The brownstone’s owner sounds chill enough, although it seems like roommates might be a problem if you were hoping to split that rent with someone.

“High ceilings, central A/C”
Bed-Stuy
$2,495/month
Three-bedroom

Apparently this unit was recently gut renovated and there’s a (shared) courtyard. Oo la la.

Posi vybz. (Greenpoint, $1,400/month)

“Original tin ceiling”
Gowanus
$2,550/month
Two-bedroom

The ceiling is pretty damn chill, plus there are French doors and both bedrooms have garden windows. You got a dishwasher, shared washer/dryer — the works. But ya, this is definitely Gowanus and not “South Slope Brooklyn” despite the listing’s claim.

“The nicest 3-bedroom in Bed-Stuy”
Bed-Stuy
$2,850/month
Three-bedroom

Maybe not the nicest, but it does look pretty nice, plus it’s no fee (meaning you don’t have to pay the brokers’ fee). There’s in unit laundry, the walls look freshly painted and it’s 500 feet from the Kingston-Throop C train stop.

“Really really ridiculously good-looking 3br”
Bed-Stuy
$2,999/month
Three-bedroom

This apartment bears no resemblance to Zoolander, but it is quite pertty. No broker’s fee, in-unit washer/dryer, heat and hot water included. Hopefully it can turn left.
