Bklyn Yard’s opening trifecta: food trucks, clothes swap, dance party

This three-day weekend, Gowanus’ Brooklyn Yard is back in business, with three big events to meet all your basic needs: food, clothes and… techno-funk dance party! Rounding out the weekend on Mem Day itself  (but we’ll start with it) is the Gowanus Food Truck Festival. We’re proud to put the Brokelyn name behind this convergence of the borough’s favorite curbside treats.

The fair features hand-crafted desserts (Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie, Robicelli’s Cupcakes, the Cinnamon Snail) to filling international fare (Rickshaw Dumplings, Hallo Berlin) and juice from the famed Green Pirates. You’ll get to sample the offerings without walking miles in between, and maybe even truck-hop with an adorable food blogger. May 31, 12 to 7 p.m. But you can’t get to Monday without Saturday and Sunday…

Whether you have leftovers from spring cleaning or want to pump up your summer wardrobe, Saturday’s Score Pop-Up Swap Meet is Brokelyn-tested and approved. What more can we say? Etsy and others helps you spare your stuff from the curb: Leave with all the free stuff you can carry. Entry is $5, $3 if you RSVP. May 29, 12 to 6 p.m.

And it just wouldn’t be a real event without a dance party. Get down on a Sunday afternoon (we won’t tell anyone you’re not in church) with the weekly water-side bash, Sunday Best. This opening week’s special guest: Michael Mayer and his warm, melodic tech-funk. Entry is $12 at the door, $8 when you email RSVP@sundaybestnyc.com by 4pm. May 30, 3 to 9 p.m.
