Okay guys, here we go, Christmas Eve Eve, the last full day of the week and it’s only Wednesday. Get through this one and you’re pretty much home free until next week. Unless of course your situation in life requires that you work on Christmas or being around your family feels like a job. I can’t help you in either case there, but when I can do is look at the Brokelyn Events Calendar and find you some fun stuff to do tonight, whether this is the end of your week or just another day.
THE GRIFF AND JOE CHRISTMAS (AND TO A LESSER EXTENT HANUKKAH) SPECTACULAR
There’s no greater proof of New York City’s ecumenical nature than the fact that even though Hanukkah has been over for about a week, a couple comedians are still willing to include it in their Christmas spectaculars. Things like that are what make New York Real America. Anyway, sorry to get political on you there, what’s important here is that you can see comedy from the likes of Rae Sanni and Brett Davis and more, and top all those laughs off with some music courtesy of Frankie Cosmos. Let the tourists from not Real America wait in the Christmas tropical rain to get into Colbert, you’ve got a great variety show much closer to home.
7:30pm, Union Hall, 702 Union Street, Park Slope, $10
QUIZ OFF
Christmas is the time when people are supposed to put their baser impulses like competition and jealousy and pettiness aside for a few days, but before you do that, keep all that dark energy with you and hit up quiz night at Pete’s Candy Store. On some quiz nights it might not be as big a deal to be competitive to a fault, but at this quiz night you can win bar tabs of $75, $40 and $15. A $75 bar tab! That’s so many drinks you and a couple teammates can be soused from tonight until Christmas morning, so answer wisely.
7:30pm, Pete’s Candy Store, 709 Lorimer Street, Williamsburg, FREE
SO FAR GONE: DRAKE NIGHT
It’s been a little while since there was a Drake night, and you might think I’d make a joke like “‘Tis the season” or something but YOU’RE WRONG. Drake, as we all know, is Jewish and was even a bar mitzvah boy. So while the right time for a Drake night would have been during one of the eight days of Hanukkah, there’s no need to focus on that when you’ve got three DJs spinning Drake and Drake-related tunes, a Drake photobooth and a champagne toast at 1am to focus on.
11pm, Baby’s All Right, 146 Broadway, Williamsburg, $10
FUNNY MOMS XXXMAS SPECTACULAR 69
Hey, don’t forget to give it up for the moms this holiday season, especially moms that make you laugh. The easiest way to do that is hit up Berg’n for the funniest mom-hosted comedy show in Brooklyn, which has a hell of a lineup for you tonight, with the likes of Aparna Nancherla, Sara Armour and Dave Hill among the joke tellers you can see.
8:30pm, Berg’n, 899 Bergen Street, Crown Heights, FREE
THE STRUGGLE PRESENTS: BLENDED FAMILY AT THE EXPERIMENT COMEDY GALLERY
Ever go to a storytelling night and think to yourself, “These stories are heartwarming and all, but what they really need are comedy skits based on them”? Great news, somehow your very specific need has been taken care of tonight, because a couple of storytellers will spin some yarns and be followed by improv groups who do skits based on those stories. You asked for it, and you got it, happy Christmas.
8pm, The Experiment Comedy Gallery, 50 Broadway, Williamsburg, $10
