5 Brooklyn bars that are screening the Democratic presidential debate tonight

Oh, it’s on. Just replace Elizabeth Warren in your mind with Lincoln Chafee. via NPR

Well kids, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – the Democratic debates! Time to finally pit the lesser evils of this year’s presidential race against one another and see who comes out alive—or at least, who speaks most impressively. Will the raucous sounds of Bushwick’s Bernie Fever create a sonic boom tonight? We’ll see.

If you don’t have anywhere to watch the debate, not to fear: we’ve got a list of bars in Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Park Slope, where you can watch the debate, drink and argue with strangers. Happy watching!

Die Koelner Bierhalle, 84 St Marks Place (Park Slope), 7pm.
DKB is partnering with the Brooklyn Young Democrats to for their debate watch party tonight, replete with drink and food specials! The BYD will also have voter registration forms in-hand for the upcoming primaries for anyone not yet signed up.

McMahons, 39 5th Avenue (Park Slope), 8:30pm.
Public advocate Letitia James is hosting a debate watch party tonight, too. Expect a lot more Hillary-mania at this one.

Pacific Standard, 82 4th Avenue (Park Slope), 8pm.
A more laid-back option for sports bar types, The Standard will host the debate watch in their back room. They are a small space, thought, so they’re warning that you might be shuttled over to Die Koelner if they reach capacity.

Pete’s Candy Store, 703 Lorimer Street (Williamsburg), 8:30pm.
If you live off the L, this is your best option. Pete’s has cheap beers, stiff pours and dreamy Christmas lights that pair oh-so nicely with a screening of political rhetoric.

Freddy’s Bar, 627 5th Avenue (South Slope), 8pm.
One of our favorite bars and eclectic venues, Freddy’s is also a great option for tonight if you live farther south. Snackers, take heed: you might down 3 or 4 orders of their addictive jalapeño tots while you watch.

Literally too lazy to find a picture of Chafee. Hilarious, and very reflective of his public image.
