1. Be famous at Pop Show, featuring Ziwe as a “pop star” who has invited some of the city’s best comedians to perform original pop songs (and pop presentations) so they can be “pop stars” together. (Friday, Union Hall, $8-10)

2. Step outside yourself at You’re Welcome, featuring work by black women artists, with the work speaking to themes about how black women exist within society, how they are framed by the contexts of our lives, and within their own consciousness. (Fri-Sat, Flux Factory, FREE)

3. Prepare for spooky stories at You Are Not Alone: A Live Horror Reading, where the city’s best horror writers share their terrors in the dark of New York City’s oldest puppet workshop. (Friday, PuppetWorks, $5)

4. Dig deep at Suicide Nights: Music & Comedy, a music and comedy show that spotlights and embraces the dark, weird, and personally demonizing through black comedy and introspective music. (Friday, Step Bone Cut Bar, $5 suggested)

5. Find pleasure in sin at The Sinner’s Kit Kat Cabaret, and enjoy boisterous and beautiful performances by our brilliant cast of cabaret creatures for an evening of dance, drag, flesh, and sin, hosted by Vic Sin. (Friday, The Vault in Brooklyn, $10 donation)

6. Learn something in-tree-resting at March Maple Madness, a local tree identification walk with a crash course in tree identification, hunt for maple flowers, and ponder the loveliness of trees in the leafless season. (Saturday, Prospect Park, $13)
