Bars We Love: Warm up at Battery Harris!

Battery Harris

64 Frost St.
Williamsburg
(718) 384-8900

What is it? A Caribbean-inspired cabana bar with the occasional New Orleans-style brass band;  a hideaway under the BQE.

Why we love it: Its canopy-covered outdoor space, with lawn chairs, palm fronds and a wrap-around deck, is the closest you can get to feeling like you’re on a tropical island, while still in Brooklyn. In the winter, the outdoor fireplace will keep the illusion alive.

Who to bring: Your dancey friends; a Southern-born buddy who needs some cheering up; a pal who likes cold drinks and spicy grub

What to order: Any of the Jamaican patties—brisket and potato, jerk chicken and sweet plantain, curried veggie ($4)—offset by New Orleans classic brew Abita Amber on draft ($6), or one of the delicious house-blended “frozies,” like the Dark ‘n Stormy.

Fun fact: The Rockaway born-and-raised owners named the bar as an homage to an old bunker in Fort Tilden.—Kate Mooney
