Bars We Love: It all multiplies at The Counting Room

Counting Room
44 Berry St., at 11th St.

What is it: The Counting Room is two floors of hugeness without feeling like a warehouse/beer hall. It somehow masters the large but cozy feel. The rustic wooden upper level is great for eating some food and grabbing a glass of wine or a beer while the lower level has more of a cocktail feel with a really beautiful bar and the occasional dance party.

Why we love it: We like the mix of live music, DJs, great food and lengthy beer and wine list – not to mention that this place is seriously beautiful.

Who to bring: For people wary of the more raucous hipster bars nearby, the Counting Room serves as a nice enclave. The bar’s seating is great for both couples and larger groups and the atmosphere is appropriate for dates, friends and the parental visit.

What to order: The curry deviled eggs paired with any one of their approximately 25 seasonal, craft or imported beers. Another option is to create a meat and cheese plate of your choosing while drinking a couple of half bottles of wine.

Counting Room fun fact: During the summer they open up their floor to ceiling length windows to create a breezy and open wine bar with no nearby comparison.
