What it is: The casual dive-style taproom that took the place of Brooklyn Ale House last year, brought to you by the folks behind Rocka Rolla, Lucky Dog and Skinny Dennis.
Why we love it: A nod to a Brooklyn of yesteryear, George and Jacks isn’t your typical Northside trend-spotting jaunt haunt. Subsequent to Brooklyn Ale House closing after 17 years in business last year, the spot’s new owners took over in the most decent way possible; they preserved the down-to-earth vibe, even keeping the old Brooklyn Ale House sign, which now hangs on a wall inside; they renovated the interior without disrupting its character, lengthening the bar and making room for pinball games; and, best of all, they upgraded the beer selection bigtime, without turning the space over to beer snobiety.
What to order: Hot cider with a side of free wifi in chillier months, but first, use your Beer Book for a White IPA from Braven Brewing.
Regular Tip: Happy hour happens frequently; come prepared to drink.
