Bed-Stuy is on the rise and for the most part it seems to mostly be a good thing (depending on who you talk to) as cool new restaurants and bars get added to the nabe made famous by Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. But don’t take my word for it: This Saturday, our friend and photographer-about-town Clay Williams and friends are hosting a bar crawl through the Stuy: for $25, you get a free drink at each of four bars, small appetizers, swag from Yelp and a 2012 edition of the Not For Tourists Brooklyn guidebook, which sounds like more than $25 worth of stuff. You can buy tickets online through midnight Friday. See the full list of bars below.
Starting point (6pm) Fulton Grand: 1 free beer per person
Breukelen Cellars: free wine tasting
Vodou Bar : 1 free cocktail
Black Swan: 1 free cask beer
Participants can also win a raffle gift set from WithLoveFromBrooklyn. Each crawler will get their own print out of a customized bar mapguide so you can follow along later.
Your hosts: Clay Williams (@Ultraclay), Alisha Miranda (@makeshiftalisha) and Nicole Taylor (@foodculturist), and the official hashtag is #bedstuycrawl. The event is co-sponsored by Yelp, Scoutmob and Not For Tourists.

clearly bed-stuy "locals" would never do this crawl. maybe it should be called "crawl like a genetrifying white person pricing the locals out of their own neighborhood"
Hey now, we gentrifying black people like to enjoy a good bar crawl too.
Ahahahaha, way to utterly whiff on being too cool for school. How about you go back to commenting on Gothamist posts, you ninny.
no idea what "gothamist" or a "ninny" is, nerd.
As a 25+ year Bed-Stuy resident, I'm as concerned about gentrification as anyone. That said, I love that I don't have to commute to have a good time.
There are now places where we can eat and drink and hang out in our own neighborhood. The idea behind this crawl is to highlight that these places are here and to give us all a chance to support them.
Clay, stop being a gentrifying white person all the time.
clearly you don't know Clay.
I'm happy to see NFT partnered with the organizers. It's where I got my start in publishing, and I continue to use their handy-as-ever guidebooks.
