Arthur Miller's daughter, Joan Didion's nephew among speakers at Bk Library's free LitFilm fest

The Brooklyn Public Library is lit on multiple levels– between the boss origin concept of borrowing books for no money, the recent Night of Philosophy & Ideas, and the abundance of dope books it houses, this outer borough library is pretty freaking great. (This is despite the fact BPL still think the author owes money for a Harry Potter book lost in the late ’90s which she totally didn’t lose, has paid back three-fold, and is still bitter about, but whatever.)

Next week, BPL will be hosting a new initiative: LitFilm, a six-day international film festival, to take place Tuesday, February 20 through Saturday, February 25. The nearly week-long celebration of modern literature will, “showcase films that explore the human side of legendary writers and playwrights” including James Baldwin, Joan Didion, Arthur Miller, Susan Sontag, Gabriel García Márquez , William S. Burroughs, and many others.

Among a bevy of scheduled happenings, there will be a keynote address by Arthur Miller’s daughter, a discussion led by Joan Didion’s nephew, and an array of director Q&As, staged readings, and more. Check out the festival’s full schedule here. The festival will take place at BPL’s main branch, the Central Library at Grand Army Plaza.
