If you make art in New York, then you know that it’s not easy to make art in New York—mostly because of the money it takes to do so. Not necessarily the size of the sum, so much as the means of obtaining it. In order to apply for most grants and large-scale funding, you often need to be a registered 501(c)-3, a process which in itself sometimes takes years to complete.
So lucky you, artist, that New York Foundation for the Arts’ application for fiscal sponsorship is now accepting submissions through September 30!
If selected, you essentially get to ‘borrow’ NYFA’s 501(c)-3 status for applications, to large-scale funders, corporate sponsors and beyond. You’ll also be able to take tax-deductible donations online. More details about the program can be found here.
There’s no fee to apply for NYFA’s sponsorship program, either, so you may as well give it a shot. It’s a selective pool, but we’ll just bet you’ve got talent. And you want to share some of it with the rest of the world, don’t you?
