Anarchy in the BK: Afropunk Fest is back, and it’s free!

We're happy too, Danny

There’s nothing like a good old fashioned free music festival in Brooklyn. Unless of course it’s a good, new music festival not burdened by a bunch of old people no one cares about. Which is a pretty good description of the Afropunk Festival, held at Commodore Barry Park, in Fort Greene. And get excited, because you can register for the fest, on August 24 and 25, to get in for free starting today!

This year’s lineup is packed with a range of performers who know how to bring the noise, from elder statesmen Chuck D and Questlove to young (really, really young) death metal up and comers Unlocking the Truth. The lineup also has grime master Danny Brown, Brokelyn fan Jean Grae, booty bouncer Big Freedia and Patton Oswalt-approved The Coup, along with many, many more performers:

There’s also going to be food trucks, a skatepark, motorcycles and the vague promise of “more,” which is always cool. If you want in, just head on over to Flavorpill, register and then RSVP for a free entry! Or pay $25 for a Fast Pass to not wait on line at all. But who are you with all this money all of a sudden? It’s like we don’t even know you anymore.
