From our BK rental steals: 5 love nests for pennywise paramours

Does this place put you in the mood for love?

There comes a time in a couple’s relationship — and for some of you people it’s about two weeks in — when it’s time to flee the 17 roommates and upgrade to a love nest. In today’s edition of Awesome Cheap Apartments, we look at inviting one-bedrooms that will leave you enough money for the couples therapy you will inevitably need after moving in just to save on rent. First up (above): a light-filled 1BR in Sunset Park for $1,150, on the second floor of a walkup. Even if you’re solo, a joint like this will help you find a rent buddy real fast. What other cozy shacks beckon from our apartment listings?

• Nearby: a newly renovated 1 BR in Sunset Park for $1090, a block away from the park, with some kind of built-in seating next to the window. Pop a cushion onto it and — voila! — bed, no futon frame necessary.

• This high-ceiling, moldings-a-popping 2BR for $1600, in yes, Sunset Park again, has a second bedroom that you can write off if you work at home. (Right, Rus?) So cute we give it two whole photos. Kinda loving this one. Check out the rest here.

• Sunset Park may be the promised land of cheap apartments, but you can’t live on tripe tacos alone. How about a large 1 BR in Clinton Hill for $1,350 a month? Pets welcome and utilities included. A statuesque, once-working fireplace haunts the living room like the ghost of a romance that was once…  OK, it’s a nice place for photos.

• Oh, don’t be so provincial about North Brooklyn. Bay Ridge has Tanoreen, Century 21, a food co-op on the way, and killer walking / biking paths along the river. And it’s not like you love birds are going to fly the coop all that often anymore, now that you’re finished in love. Here’s a nicely detailed 1BR for $1,250, which has a dishwasher, high ceilings, a marble bath, and proximity to the R train.

• Look what you get with this 1BR in Carroll Gardens for $1,700: a new eat-in kitchen with stainless steel appliances, exposed brick in spacious living room, new bathroom, and shared outdoor space. And it doesn’t specify that pets are OK, but we’re thinking since the ad headline says “Blocks to Dog Run” that they might be OK. Plus, Carroll Gardens. You never know when you’re going to run into these people at Lucali.
