A handful of hair deals around Park Slope

As part of our ongoing attempt to provide readers with the latest budget beauty news, here are a handful of haircut and color deals around the Slope: On the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, junior stylists Stephanie and Mari at Salon Bohemia (437 Seventh Ave. at 15th Street, 718-788-8750) charge $25 to $30 for cuts instead of $40. The salon is currently taking appointments for June 23. Reader Lynn Cole sends in the following tips (though if you don’t like them, don’t blame her—she hasn’t tested them yet): Le Chandelier (264 Fifth Ave., 718-783-2457, www.lechandeliersalon.com) is offering $35 special on haircuts with Peggy, who seems to be a new stylist. At the Rompal salon (319 Sixth Ave., between 2nd and 3rd streets, 718-965-9149), cuts are $25 and single-process color is $45 for appointments Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. If you’ve got a great tip, send it with a photo to tips@brokelyn.com. Starting today, the best reader tip of the week gets a free Brokelyn t-shirt.

  • I love a great hair deal as much as the next gal and with that in mind I suppose it is to my extreme advantage that I live in probably the most un-hip part of Brooklyn there is, Bensonhurst!! The plethora of hair shops that have opened up in the last 5 years in my area is dumbfounding. Each of them competes with the next with a final result being blow-outs that rarely exceed $15! A cut? $16-$18. The kicker to all of this is the amazing head-massage that accompanies your wash. Depending on which salon you choose (out of the 25,539) your massage can last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. No extra charge for this service, but these ladies work for their money so generous tips based on quality of service is always a +. My pick would be for you to visit New Hair, 86, (2246 86th St
Brooklyn, NY 11214 (718) 373-2782), and ask for JoAnn for your wash. Her massages are longer than any other wash-girl's in the hood' and if you plan on going back, give her a good tip and she'll hook you up even moreso next go! [the salon is easily accessed by getting off on the Bay Parkway stop of the Coney Island bound D train. When you come down from the platform, exit to the left of the token booth and take the stairs on your left- Walk straight just 8 or so storefronts and you're there!] - ENJOY!

  • A great deal is fine, but if you want a great deal and one of the top salons in Brooklyn, check out Frajean Salon at 69 7th Ave., in Park Slope (718) 622-4448). Their prices are great, but their services are phenomenal.
