Weekend and beyond: Hasidic Hendrix, ‘Lost’ premiere parties, beard lovers’ bash

BAM’s Sounds Like Brooklyn Music Festival takes over 15 venues with 60+ bands hailing from Bed-Stuy to Brighton Beach. Thru 2/6. Free-$25.

Details are trickling in about the 6th annual Idiotarod shopping cart race…

8pm: The Hasidic Hendrix? The Sephardic Santana? You decide as Israeli rocker Yosi Piamenta presents a tribute to Jimi Hendrix @ Southpaw, $12 advance, $20 door.

8pm: The “Lost” season premiere @ The Bell House‘s main space is sold out, but the front room will be open with the comedy of Sara Schaefer, Kim Armstrong, Kristen Schaal and others. (Take it easy, Freckles… you can still head to Brooklyn Bowl to see what happens on The Island). Free.

8pm: Catch a preview of a musical stage adaptation of Melvin Van Peebles’s influential 1971 film, “Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song” (before it goes to Paris!). Followed by discussion with Van Peebles and the artists. BRICstudio, $10 (thru Friday).

8pm: The hirsute and admirers thereof have plenty to celebrate at the 2010 Beard Ball. Proceeds from drink specials and raffles benefit RightRides.org. Matchless, $5.

  • I LOVE the Hasidic Hendrix! He eats Matisyahu’s shabbos lunch. (Okay, I actually like Matisyahu too, but Piamenta’s the original)
