Turkey’s Nest plays the role of Hell’s Kitchen hangout Josie’s Bar in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’

The Turkey’s Nest is many things. A dive bar that doesn’t try too hard at just existing and being a nice bar to hang out in. A place to watch hockey and get lectures on who does and does not “respect the Cup.” A place to get a giant margarita in a styrofoam cup. And now, a den of evil, where New York City’s lowlifes hang out and occasionally get interrogated by a vigilante. A return to the Bad Old Days? Not quite, the bar is being used as a set piece for Netflix’s Daredevil show, according to DNA Info.

The Williamsburg dive will finally be getting the star turn it deserves in Daredevil when it plays the stand-in for Josie’s Bar, a hangout for two-bit schemers and low-life thugs who sometimes get pressed for information by The Man Without Fear himself (that’s Daredevil, for you non-nerds out there). The Turkey’s Next is just one of the Williamsburg/Greenpoint spots where the show is filming, a list that includes an empty lot on India Street and a McCarren Park handball court.

On the one hand, it’s cool and all that while binge-watching the comic book TV series you’ll be able to at some point say “Hey I used to get to-go margaritas from there!” while Daredevil is punching some guy’s face in at the bar. On the other hand, it’s gonna be really really weird in a year or two when a Girls tour bus driving up Bedford collides with a Daredevil tour bus driving along North 12th Street.

Update: here’s what the bar looks like in the show:

East River Bar also makes a cameo in episode 1 of season 2 as the headquarters of the Dogs of Hell gang:
