FRIDAY
thru 4/17
: the 5th annual congress of curious peoples = 10 days of performances, exhibitions and films by sideshow artists. opening night gets started with the induction of new members of the sideshow hall of fame. coney island, $5-10/event.


8pm
(+ sun @ 3pm): the brooklyn symphony orchestra performs selections by rossini, puccini, more with the grace + spiritus chorale of brooklyn. st. ann’s church (brooklyn heights), free ($15 sugg. don.).

9pm-2am: dykes-on-bike-cycles presents and evening of booze, babes + bicycles (and burlesque). goldsprints competition, dance party, more. littlefield, $5-10.

SATURDAY
8pm: the string orchestra of brooklyn perform the works of brahms, tchaikovsky and shoenberg at the brooklyn conservatory. all proceeds benefit japan society’s earthquake relief fund. $10.

8:30pm: new zeland singer-songwriter liam finn is joined by canadian indie rockers the luyas at bell house, $15

11pm: erotic city, the ‘#1 live tribute 2 prince’ performs tunes by the purple one at brooklyn bowl, $5

11pm: nerds + burlesque = nerdlesque. followed by strip taboo! the brick, $10.

SUNDAY
12pm-3pm: community swap meet + yard sale to sell/swap your old clothes, Mission Dolores, free (rsvp requested).

1:30pm: sarah vowell reads from her new unfamiliar fishes @ bpl. hosted by wnyc’s leonard lopate. bpl, free.

8pm: the red hook ramblers 6-piece dixieland band accompany buster keaton silent films at jalopy, $10.

ALL WEEKEND
thru 4/30
: brooklyn public library offers amnesty deal on overdue books.
