FRIDAY
4pm:
rogue taxidermist takeshi yamada presents a show-and-tell of creatures from his museum of world wonders. nypl coney island, free.

7pm: cover band bonanza! hole, smashing pumpkins, prince, ac/dc, stp, sunny day real estate, fleetwood mac. bar matchless, free.

7pm-midnight (thru 10/31): meet ghastly ticket sellers, ride inspectors, and victims of an unfortunate roller coaster crash at ‘the ride inspector’s nightmare‘, a 45-minute ‘tour’ through the coney island sideshow back rooms. bonus: luna park rides will be open weekends during the run. coney island usa, $10.

8pm: listen to awe-inspiring lyrics and music by cloud cult while seeing a work of art created before your eyes. bell house, $15 adv, $17 dos.

8pm (every thu-sat thru 11/13): rabbit hole ensemble’s the tragic story of doctor frankenstein shifts the focus of mary shelly’s novel to the point of view of the doctor, a woman. bax, $18.

9pm: neon indian brings chillwave pop to brooklyn bowl, $15

SATURDAY
12pm:
the 12th annual great pupkin dog costume contest (get it?) and annual halloween festival @ fort greene park. $5 suggested donation per pup.

1pm (thru 10/31): take a guided tour through green-wood cemetery and hear tales of murder, mayhem, spirits and ghosts… oh, my! $20.

6pm: night of the living dead plays at williamsburg’s art-house movie theater/music venue/restaurant/bar indiescreen, $12

7pm-7am:within the land of ash‘ fills four bushwick buildings with music, performances and mayhem. free champagne for those in costume. $15 before 9:45pm, $25 after.

8pm: how about a side of punk with your halloween candy? misfits + suicide cover bands will take care of that at union hall, $8.

8pm: opening reception for artist jen furgeson and writer tim hall’s ‘monster mash-ups‘, an update of the monsters we loved to fear growing up. bergen street comics, free.

9pm: rubulad and gemini + scorpio’s masquerade macbre features alien monster puppet funk, balkan and toy piano music, djs, fire, face painting, silver film portraits… absinthe! location tbd, $20.

10pm: bangon!nyc’s haunted warehouse party features a zip line, multiple swings, a haunted house, professional dominatrix, and performance art. 80 ainslie (williamsburg), $12-15.

10pm: dance ’til you’re undead at meanred’s ‘end of the world zombie attack!‘ party. masonic temple, $10 adv, $15 door.

10pm: the freaks come out for the rub‘s classic hip hop dance party @ southpaw, $10

11pm: dancing, fake blood, and bizarre videos await at cherylween iii: the curse of the cheeto sphinx. bell house, $5 before midnight, $10 after.

midnight: ‘colored blazers, croquet mallets, and your bitchiest attitude are all encouraged’ at union hall’s very heathers halloween free.

SUNDAY
a fort greene residence transforms into ‘the vampire opera‘. if only every house did this! 313 clinton ave, free.

4-9pm: march of the munchkins (not these munchkins) at the park slope children’s parade and costume contest. free.
